The Locked Door

Hahahaha. This morning, for the 10th morning in a row, is an "inside" day, meaning the kids are not allowed to go out and play before school because it's too cold. That means they have to be inside. Technically, they are supposed to sit outside my classroom. I usually let them come in though because I feel like I can have more control over my little monsters if they are in my room.

Well, this morning I wanted to be productive during my before school hours, so right before kids started showing up, I locked my door and I'm sitting in the corner of the room where the kids can't see me through the window. I've been very productive!

It's ridiculous though that they don't understand, "The door is locked!"

Each kid who comes decides that maybe they might have that "King Arthur touch" and the door just might open for them, even though it didn't open for the past 5 kids who tried. And they don't just try once. They initially try to turn the handle. Doesn't move. So then they jiggle it a little, seeing if it will change its mind and budge. Doesn't move. So then they move it frantically in either desperation or annoyance. Still doesn't move. Silence until the next confident student comes and thinks their touch will be the magical one to open it. Oh goodness, children.

They're going to have a cow when the bell rings and I come from the inside to open the door and let me in. Oh, the things that teachers do that makes them happy...
